The State I Live In

I was doing the garden
Then rested a spell
As I leaned on my shovel
Watching cobble stone trails

I saw the sky swallow birds
Or birds flew to the sky
I just can’t recall what happened or why

Nor did I know the who or the when
As images turned my mind into wind

A gentle breeze swirled and tumbled in me
To slip away moments and my memory

I searched for the answer
And waited to see
If something mysterious
Altered thought chemistry

I waded through time
Swimming words on the move
And discovered my life in the state of a fugue
